THIS IS THE ONLY PRIVATE JETTY IN RAROTONGA, AND WE THINK IT IS SPECIAL.

If you enjoy fish watching then several species of fish live around the jetty pilings, including puffer fish, lion fish, goat fish, and cleaner wrasses.

At different seasons other fish come up the harbour to the jetty, including trevally, octopus, and turtle. Early morning and late evening is feeding time with scraps of bread being the favourite.

Our guests also swim and snorkel off the jetty. You can launch your kayak from here to cross the harbour to the ideal desert island with its beautiful sand beaches. Or you can just sit here in the cooling breeze and watch the local villagers fishing in the harbour. Avana harbour is the “pantry” for the people living in this village. Whether it is spearfishing, netting, rod fishing, or just gathering shellfish, most of the day you will see someone going about their traditional food gathering in the harbour. And of course the jetty is the departure point for deep sea fishing charters.
